Soundbar Not Working After Power Outage (Solved)

Power outages are quite common. In some parts of the world they occur quite frequently. In my house, we experience one every couple of weeks. Every piece of electronic equipment behaves differently after the power comes back.

Soundbars are no exception.

Whether it’s a Vizio, Sonos, Roku, Bose, Cambridge, Yamaha, Philips, or Klipsch soundbar, each brand has its unique quirks regarding post-power outage issues.

In this guide, we’ll provide quick troubleshooting tips for various soundbar models to help you get your audio back on track after an unexpected power interruption.

Vizio Soundbar Not Working After Power Outage

If your Vizio soundbar was connected to a surge protector before the power outage, please check the protector itself. Is it working fine with other electronic devices? If yes, the electronics are likely damaged – possibly a blown capacitor inside your soundbar. If you are tech-savvy or a tinkerer, open up the soundbar apart and look for a burnt capacitor. They are easy to identify.

Alternatively, talk to customer care (if the product is still under warranty) or take the soundbar to your nearby hardware repair shop.

Sonos Soundbar Not Working After Power Outage

Reboot your Sonos soundbar and other connected Sonos devices (if any) if it doesn’t come back after the power outage. If the reboot doesn’t work, it is your network. For example, if you are using two or more Wi-Fi networks, your Sonos soundbar seems to get confused about which network to connect to after a power outage. As a result, it fails to connect to any of them and stops working.

Hardwire your Sonos soundbar or any other Sonos device to your router. It will create SonosNet, and the rest of the Sonos devices will join SonosNet. This way, they will come back successfully after a power outage.

Roku Soundbar

If your Roku soundbar isn’t working after a power outage, follow the steps below:

  • Unplug everything (Roku soundbar, TV, other streaming devices) from the power outlet.
  • Wait for five to ten seconds.
  • Reconnect the soundbar and let it fully boot.
  • Reconnect your TV and other devices and let them fully boot, too.
  • Now, check your soundbar to see if the issue was fixed.

Bose Soundbar Issue After Power Outage

Users have reported a default sound setting of 70% after a power cut. It doesn’t come down by any means. The solution to this problem is to factory reset your Bose 500 soundbar.

To do this:

  • Turn on your Bose soundbar by pressing the power button.
  • If your Bose soundbar is added to the Bose Music App, remove it from the app before resetting.
  • After removing the soundbar from the app, press and hold the power and skip forward buttons for five seconds.
  • The soundbar will take some time to complete the process.
  • When the LED indicator on the Bose soundbar turns to a solid amber color from a solid white, the process is complete.

Cambridge TVB2 Soundbar

If your Cambridge soundbar is rebooting again and again after a power outage, try unplugging the power cord and HDMI cord for some time. Then plug the cables back in to see if the problem is fixed. If it doesn’t, you should perform a factory reset.

Yamaha Soundbar

If your Yamaha soundbar isn’t producing any sound after a power outage, follow the steps below:

  • Perform a power cycle by disconnecting the Yamaha soundbar for an extended duration to simulate a soft reset (the longer, the better).
  • While still unplugged, press and hold the power button on the unit’s control panel multiple times to dissipate residual power (a longer unplugged duration is more effective).
  • Plug the unit back in, but into a different outlet directly.
  • Test the device, ensuring only the power cable is connected and no other cables or wiring.
  • Inspect, adjust, or replace all connections to and from the device as needed.

If the above steps don’t help, it is potentially a hardware issue that needs to be checked at a hardware repair store.

Philips Soundbar

If your Philips soundbar isn’t working after a power outage or is stuck in standby mode after turning on, try the solution below.

The amplifier might have entered a safety mode to protect itself. To troubleshoot, unplug all the wires connected to the speakers and other devices (except for the power cable) and see if the soundbar turns on. Also, try plugging it into a different electrical outlet.

Klipsch Soundbar

After a power outage the volume up button on the Klipsch soundbar might stop working. To resolve the issue, try the steps below.

  • Turn the power button off. It’s on the back of the soundbar. Unplug the power cord for at least 20 minutes.
  • Later, plug the power cord and turn the Klipsch soundbar back on.
  • Now, press and hold the volume up and volume down buttons for at least 20 seconds.
  • Now, try operating your Klipsch soundbar to see if the issue is fixed.
