Picture Spacing Calculator: Perfectly Arrange Your Wall Art

๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ Decorating a wall with pictures, paintings, or posters is super fun โ€” but getting the spacing right?

That can be surprisingly tricky! ๐Ÿ“

Too cramped and it feels crowded. Too far apart and it looks disconnected.
Our simple Picture Spacing Calculator is designed to help you arrange your art like a pro, every time!

๐Ÿ™‹ What is a Picture Spacing Calculator?

A Picture Spacing Calculator helps you figure out:

  • How much space to leave between each frame
  • How to center a group of pictures on a wall
  • How wide your whole gallery will look when hung up

It does all the math for you, so you get even, beautiful spacing without the guesswork! ๐ŸŽฏ

๐Ÿ“ What You Need to Use the Calculator

Before you start, just grab:

  • Wall width (in inches, centimeters, or meters)
  • Number of pictures you want to hang
  • Width of each picture (frames included)
  • Desired space between pictures (optional, if you already have an idea)

The calculator will then tell you:

  • โœ… Total width needed for all pictures + spaces
  • โœ… Perfect spacing if you want it auto-calculated
  • โœ… Where to start hanging on your wall

๐Ÿ”ฅ How to Calculate Picture Spacing (Example)

Let’s say you have:

  • A wall that is 120 inches wide
  • 4 pictures you want to hang
  • Each picture is 18 inches wide
  • You don’t specify a gap โ€” you want it automatically calculated.

Hereโ€™s how the spacing works:

  1. Total width of pictures = 4 ร— 18 = 72 inches
  2. Remaining space = 120 – 72 = 48 inches
  3. Divide by 5 gaps (one on each side and between pictures): 48 รท 5 = 9.6 inches

โœ… Result: You should leave about 9.6 inches between each picture and at the ends for a perfectly centered layout!

๐Ÿก Example Setups

Small Wall Example (7 ft wide):

  • 3 small pictures, each 12 inches wide
  • 2.5 inches between pictures
  • 3 inches margin on each side

Medium Wall Example (10 ft wide):

  • 4 medium pictures, each 16 inches wide
  • 4 inches between pictures
  • 5 inches margin at each end

Large Wall Example (14 ft wide):

  • 5 large frames, each 24 inches wide
  • 5 inches between pictures
  • 7 inches margins on both sides

๐Ÿ’ก Quick Tips

โœ… If you want a modern, clean look โ€” use about 2 to 3 inches between each frame.
โœ… For larger walls or bigger pictures, 4 to 6 inches of space looks great!
