Formula for Converting Average Voltage to RMS Voltage
For a full-wave rectified sinusoidal waveform, the conversion from average voltage to RMS voltage is based on the following:
VRMS = Vavg ร ฯ/(2รโ2)
Where:
- VRMS is the RMS voltage,
- Vavg is the average voltage,
- ฯ or pi is approximately 3.1416
Example Calculation
Letโs say you have a full-wave rectified signal with an average voltage of 10 V. Use the calculator to convert this to RMS voltage value of 11.11 V.
Why RMS Voltage Is Important
