Logitech K470 or MK470 Keyboard Not Working (Easy Solutions)

Experiencing issues with your Logitech MK470 or K470 keyboard can be frustrating, especially when you need to stay productive.

From connection problems to compatibility issues, there are several potential reasons your device might not work as expected. Fortunately, these common issues can be resolved with simple troubleshooting steps.

In this post we present solutions to problems associated with the K470 keyboard (available also in the MK470 combination with a mouse).

Is the USB Receiver Plugged in?

For the keyboard to work, the USB dongle has to be plugged into the PC as shown below. The MK470 is a wireless keyboard. Without this dongle, the keyboard will not work.

Swap USB Port

Sometimes, the issue lies in the port you connect your dongle to. Swapping the port can resolve the issue. Also, ensure there are no physical objects between your keyboard and the USB as any obstructions can impact the wireless signal.

It is recommended that a USB be inserted in the front port of the PC rather than the back one. Also, if any interference-causing devices (microwave, Wireless speakers, etc.) are around, try relocating them.

Finally try swapping between a USB 3 and a USB 2 port. USB 3 ports are blue in color as shown below.

Change The Batteries

Even if your keyboard’s battery is new, try changing the batteries to see if it helps. Place the keyboard facing you on a flat surface to change the batteries. Place your thumbs on the top of the keyboard (where there is the Logi logo), and slide up. The section will slide up, exposing the batteries on one side and a USB compartment on the other. Replace the batteries and slide the section back.

Update Your System

Sometimes, the problem doesn’t lies in the keyboard or mouse attached but in the system itself. An outdated system software starts interfering with the normal working of connected peripherals.

We suggest you update your PC’s system software to avoid this issue and keep things going smoothly.

Check Compatibility

You might face a delayed typing experience using a Logitech K470 with a Mac. The reason is that this keyboard isn’t compatible with Mac. According to Logitech, the keyboard is compatible with Windows 7,8 or later, Chrome OS and Microsoft Surface devices.

Update Logi Options+ Software

Some users reported an issue where the battery is fine, but Logi Options+ continuously showed signs of low battery. Also, the keys of the Logitech K470 would stop working for a few seconds for no apparent reason.

The solution to this problem is to update Logi Options+ software to the latest version. You can find the latest updates here.

 Change Settings

Sometimes, Logitech device drivers are why the Logitech K470 keyboard is not working. To fix the cause:

  • Open Device Manager from the Start menu.
  • Scroll down halfway through the list on the left until you find Human Interface Devices, then click on it.
  • Locate and select the Logitech USB Input Device.
  • Click on the Power Management tab.
  • If the checkbox labelled, Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power is checked, uncheck it.

How To Turn On Logitech K470 Keyboard

If this is the first time you’re using the K470, please note:

There is no specific on/off button on the keyboard. You need to remove the pull tabs on the keyboard. (Mentioned in the text above). Once you remove the tabs, your keyboard will turn on. (You will find the batteries and USB container inside). You must insert the USB into your PC/laptop port, and the peripheral is ready.

Conclusion

If your Logitech K470 isn’t functioning correctly, following these troubleshooting tips can often resolve the issue quickly. Whether swapping ports, updating software or changing batteries, a few adjustments can help your keyboard work smoothly again.
