Baofeng Radios have a SMA-Male Connector at the Antenna Input
Connector Details
There are two sets of threads (outside and inside) and that might lead people into mistakenly assuming that it is RP-SMA Female.
But that is not the case.
The threads on the outside are for the nut that mounts the antenna connector to the case. It ensures that the antenna is structurally attached to the radio chassis.
The threads on the inside are for the SMA-Female Antenna Connector or SMA-F adapter.
A RP-SMA connector shown below, has no threads on the inside
For comparison, a SMA-M connector is shown in the picture below with threads on the inside
Which Adapter is required to connect the radio to an Antenna?
If your antenna has a SMA-F connector like the Nagoya Antenna shown below, then you don’t need an adapter.
If your antenna has a BNC Male connector, then the adapter shown in the picture below is required to connect the two.
If your antenna has a F-type connector then this adapter will work.
